CoolBrew is an all natural, liquid coffee concentrate made using an innovative cold brew process developed by the New Orleans Coffee Co., Inc. Since it is a concentrate, just 1 oz of CoolBrew from the user-friendly bottle (with built-in measuring chamber), makes an 8-10 oz. cup of hot or iced, smooth and delicious gourmet coffee. It’s fresh coffee FAST.
Cold brewing is the unique process of capturing the full flavor of freshly roasted coffee using only cold water. There is no heat used in a cold brew process, so most of the acids normally found in hot brewed coffee remain in the grounds producing a rich, smooth and less bitter coffee – or in the case of CoolBrew a rich and smooth coffee concentrate without the bitterness.
CoolBrew tastes great HOT or ICED. Since it is a true concentrate, it is extremely versatile and can be used in an endless list of drinks, dishes and even savory sauces. For example, Smoothie King has been using CoolBrew nationwide in its coffee smoothies for many years; New Orleans Ice Cream Co. uses CoolBrew in its “Coffee & Chicory” and “Cafe au Lait & Beignets” flavors. Visit the RECIPES area for numerous recipes or experiment with some of your own and be sure to let us know how they turn out!
The caffeine content of any coffee can vary depending on the variety, rainfall, sunlight, etc. Our most recent caffeine analysis revealed the following…
CoolBrew Original and all Flavors except French Roast contain between 50 and 60 mg of caffeine per 1 ounce serving.
The French Roast has about 80 to 100 mg per 1 ounce serving.
The Decaf will have about 1 mg of caffeine.
CoolBrew is always found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store; most of the time it is near the milk or coffee creamers but some specialty stores place it near juice (breakfast items) or even ready to drink energy drinks (even though CoolBrew is a concentrate). For a list of stores near you offering CoolBrew visit the FIND A STORE section of the website to search for a particular store in your neighborhood. Locally and regionally CoolBrew is available at Rouses; nationally CoolBrew can be found at all Fresh Market stores and regionally at most Whole Foods markets in the Southwest region.
Should CoolBrew not be available near you, please let us know where you shop. In the meantime, buy online.
Chicory is the root of the endive plant. The leafy top is used like lettuce in salads. The root is dried, roasted and ground like coffee. When it is mixed with ground coffee it adds body to the flavor. Chicory has no caffeine and many argue it has additional health benefits for the digestive system. Chicory is the “secret” ingredient in New Orleans’ world renowned Café au Lait. All CoolBrew varieties except French Roast contain chicory, although most people don’t realize it.
Since CoolBrew is all natural it ships and sells refrigerated but it is not as perishable as milk. We ship 2nd air with insulation and ice packs. CoolBrew can be in transit for 2-4 days depending on the external temperature.
CoolBrew is dated 120 days from production if kept refrigerated and unopened. The dating is more of a “Best By” date than it is an expiration date. It doesn’t go off like milk but will lose freshness after a few months. Once you open the bottle, the suggested usage time is up to 4 weeks although 2 weeks is best for optimal freshness and flavor. For most coffee consumers, usage during this time frame is not a problem!
While we don’t recommend freezing CoolBrew, it can be frozen for up to a year with the following caveats: 1) the bottle may swell if frozen, 2) thaw it completely and give it a shake before opening and 3) use it within 2 weeks of opening the bottle.
